The Daily Mail reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be provided with the necessary funds in order to pursue his transfer targets in January and beyond.
The report says that Ed Woodward and club owners the Glazers are more than willing to get behind Solskjaer in the transfer market, so he would be able to spend the amount of cash that he needs to build on the club’s recent good results against Tottenham and Manchester City.
The three players that has been mentioned include: Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, FC Salzburg’s ErlingHaaland and Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek. The Daily Mail goes on to say that both Avram and Joel Glazer told Ole that his job is safe. The Glazers recognize that it will take time for Ole to rebuild the squad. Executive chairman Ed Woodward wants to bring in better quality players to the club with those aforementioned players in mind.
I believe that these are excellent players to pursue, but out of these three in the list I can only see us getting one. Erling Haaland is the only one that I see where we have a good chance of obtaining him. Ole coached him at Molde in Norway for a season or two and Haaland looks up to Ole as a father figure. Both of them knows each other well.
Haaland is also at a point where this is the perfect time for him to make his jump from a team in Salzburg that wouldn’t match his ambitions. He wants to play in the Premier league with a top club. He’s outgrown his team and league and someone of his great talent should be making the step up in class to a world-class league. There are also other reports that Haaland is interested in leaving Salzburg. I don’t know if that’s in January or in the summer, but he certainly has higher ambitions.
The other two Niguez and Van Der Beek are star players that are very important to their clubs and are usually unlikely to sell their best players in January during the middle of the season. Those clubs need those players to help them finish in the Champions League places or in a Europa league 5th place spot at the end of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Ed Woodward to buy seven players over the next 10 months. United will not obtain most of these players in January, but Ole seems set on getting these players.
Mario Mandzukic who is low down the pecking order regarding the list of strikers at Juventus is available. But United wants him to lower his wage demands if the transfer were to get the greenlight. Then there is Callum Wilson from Bournemouth that is a striker whose stock has increased over the past few seasons.
He has steadily improved and I like his pace and is a good finisher. Although I would rather United sign Lyon striker MoussaDembele or Mandzukic because they are better quality strikers and has more attributes in their game that makes them more dangerous than Wilson.
There are also four midfielders that Ole would like to sign. This includes Declan Rice of West Ham, Aston Villa’s John McGinn, Leicester City’s JamesMaddison, and Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic are also being considered. Manchester United is expected to fund part of these signings by selling some players.
I don’t know if Rakitic will be an ideal player for United and in the Premier League. He doesn’t have pace, but he can hold possession of the ball well and can help to maintain an attack or counter-attack with his excellent passing, and creativity. But I think all the positive attributes far outweigh the negatives in his game. So I would like to to see him at Old Trafford.
However, there are reports in Spain that says the midfielder isn’t interested in a move to England because of family reasons. So that’s a move that wouldn’t happen if this alleged report is true. It would be ideal if United can get two strikers into the club namely Mandzukic and Dembele. Or if we don’t get two strikers, hopefully we can get one striker and a midfielder that’s creative and can score a few goals. James Maddison would be the right fit for us because he’s not only young, but has those aforementioned attributes.
Manchester United is at a crossroads right now, and Ed Woodward and the board needs to make the right decisions to help move this club forward. I hope that the right players are brought into the club so that we’ll improve to the point where we can really compete with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Manchester United have been pursuing a centre-back for a while now because the club has had a difficult time finding a quality player for that position. Lancs live reports that United is interested in signing Issa Diop from West Ham, and they made a bid of £45m for the defender. The Frenchman was impressive for the Hammers in his debut last season. United is going to open negotiations this week with West Ham, according to The Express.
The Red Devils should go into negotiations with West Ham for Diop because if this £45m transfer fee is accepted and the Hammers wants to proceed with negotiations I think that’s a positive. Because why should United pay more than £70m for Leicester City’s centre-back Harry Maguire after they rejected United’s £70m offer?
Manchester United should look at cheaper alternatives. Issa Diop is one of those cheaper options that is a quality player. Harry Maguire isn’t worth the money anyway. I believe that Maguire is overpriced and that Leicester is just taking advantage of the situation in order to just make more money from their player. I say that United should continue to pursue this deal and buy Diop and save themselves a lot of money.
United gets rejected by Tielemans
Youri Tielemans is going to snub the Red Devils in favour of a move to Leicester City after talks between both clubs were progressing. Leicester is very willing to sign the Belgian midfielder permanently after he spent last season with the Foxes on loan from Monaco. There are many other clubs that’s interested in Tielemans, but the Foxes are the favourites to sign him.
Belgian football expert Kristoff Terreur has told Sky Sports that a deal for the 22-year-old is close, although it is complicated by a potential part-swap with Andre Silva. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a big fan of the midfielder, but he is focused on obtaining a new defender.
United should search for another midfielder that is just as good as him or better. We shouldn’t waste our time on the a player that is going to snub us anyway and his club Leicester City is the favourites to sign him in spite of all the other teams that are interested in him.
United will be better served going after another player that is not only interested in joining United, but a club that is willing to talk to Manchester United if we made a bid that that a club was interested in.
According to The Express, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in selling Romelu Lukaku. This will the increase the transfer budget of the Manchester United. Lukaku wants to leave club and would like to join Antonio Conte at Inter Milan. Manchester United wants £80m for the striker, but Inter Milan doesn’t seem interested in paying that transfer fee.
Reports claims that Ole is interested in Lyon’s Moussa Dembele and Lille’sNicolas Pepe are both fascinating choices. Manchester United has made an opening bid worth more than £35m for Dembele. He is 22, and has attracted interest from Liverpool also. Nicolas Pepe is 24 and has good pace the striker could be make a nice fit upfront with Marcus Rashford.
I would love to see either one of these players come to United because not only do they fall in line with the club’s new policy of signing young players of a certain age, they are cheaper than strikers like a Paulo Dybala or Antoine Griezmann that would be much more expensive. The quality of these players is the most important thing right now and not the quantity of money that we pay for them.
Time is running out on United to get the certain number of players into the club. We have signed two so far, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. According to most reports in England is that Solskjaer wants five players in total. We would need to sign these players before the end of this month.
MUFC Latest claims that Manchester United reportedly made a £70m bid for Harry Maguire. But the Foxes rejected it. United has been pursuing Maguire for quite some time now. Manchester City has had interest in the centre-back and has pursued him as well.
Manchester United shouldn’t go after a player that may be overpriced. Harry Maguire is a very good and solid defender. He isn’t a great defender like a Nemanja Vidic or a Jaap Stam. The England international does many basic things well like tackling, winning aerial battles, intercepting the ball, winning duels and closing down people. However, Manchester United should move on to another player that cost less, but will also be a quality defender.
United should be more prudent with their money and search for players that provides the quality that they want, and they should be worth the value that the club is willing to pay for. Too many players are overpriced in this transfer market. I believe that Harry Maguire is worth more like £50-£55m.
Leicester City obviously wants to set the price tag high for Maguire so that they can get more money out of the deal. Many times when you overpay as a club for players and you give them big contracts you can have financial problems in the future. I hope that we can sign a quality centre-back soon so we can get ready for the season early.
Do you think that Harry Maguire is worth £70? Should United pay that amount for him? Tell me what you think in the comments section.
Manchester United is seeking to sign Newcastle midfielderSean Longstaffand make him their third signing of the summer. The 21-year-old has been a target for the Red Devils even before the transfer window opened. In his debut season for the Magpies he only played nine games last season. According to 90mins.com, writer Will Imbo stated the midfielder’s abilities.
“Playing with a controlled ferocity and commanding presence, Longstaff’s composure, passing and tackling (more on this later) created a sense of calm throughout the Magpies midfield, and it was his effort in the incredible 2-1 win against Man City – where he won the decisive penalty to put the Toon ahead – that had fans losing their collective minds.”
Longstaff is also an excellent passer of the ball from a deep playmaking position in midfield. He made 32.6 passes per game, which was an 80.1% success rate with one assist. The defensive midfielder has a strong work rate, is a fantastic tackler and he also wins the ball cleanly. Here are some of his stats:
Tackle Success Rate
The Newcastle native started his career at Newcastle United with their youth team in 2016 and was loaned out to Kilmarnock in 2017. In the 2017-18 season he went on loan to Blackpool.
Then in November 2018 he was rewarded by Rafa Benitez with a four-year contract when the youngster was promoted to the senior team. I can’t wait to see Manchester United sign this exciting young prospect. We need some youthful energy in midfield, especially when it comes to winning duels in the middle of the park for or recovering the ball in 50-50 duels or making interceptions.
I think that he would be a wonderful replacement for Nemanja Matic, although we already have Scott McTominay who could fill that role too. Sean Longstaff will definitely be an extraordinary addition to Manchester United’s squad.
According to GivemeSport, Manchester United is demanding £150m from any club who is willing to buy the Paul Pogba. This transfer fee would discourage virtually any club from signing him. Obviously United is just trying to scare any potential suitors away from buying the French midfielder. I think many people wouldn’t agree with such a price tag on a player didn’t always live up expectations last season.
Yes, he grabbed 16 goals last season and was instrumental at times in the midfield. When you look at his stats from last season he was actually one of our best players along with De Gea. Even though both had poor seasons by their standards.
Out of 75 passes last season Pogba had 70% that were passes in the final third, he had 91% successful passes in his own half, Pogba also had 79% passing completion in the opposition’s half, and 81% successful passes overall. When it comes to defending he didn’t do so well. Duels won 6/13, interceptions 1/1, tackles won 0/2, Aerial duels won 2/6. Since he arrived at Old Trafford he has had 31 goals.
For his overall career he has 162/387 tackles won, duels won 238/496, Aerial duels won 74/139 and 50/50s won 0. So these are mostly great stats for a player who I know many people criticize a lot. For me he is a player that is worth keeping and I hope that he stays, because How many players are out there that we can buy that is of his caliber? Especially in his position? Very few so he should stay.
Pogba is too valuable of an asset for us to sell to any club. If we are to win trophies in the future he is one of the cornerstones that we must have in place in order for us to be successful. Even if we were to sell him we’ll have to line up an adequate replacement for him before we sell him. United can’t afford to compromise the quality of the squad just so that we can cash in on him for the club’s benefit.
You should only sell a player for valid reasons that not only makes sense for the club, but also for the fans. United should sell Nemanja Matic and not Pogba because he’s lost a step or two since we bought him in August, 2017. He looks uninspired and is lacking any kind of urgency in his game. Matic is the one who is supposed to support Pogba in his defensive duties in central midfield.
The Serbian also is supposed to support the Frenchman when he’s going forward to make those roving runs into the final third and the opposition’s box. But unfortunately he isn’t doing that. I believe if we get a capable and consistent player alongside Paul Pogba then that will help to improve his performances. He’s not getting the help that he needs from his partner and that certainly has something to do with his many poor performances from last season. Let’s just hope for everyone’s sake that he stays.
The Metro claims that Leicester City is asking Manchester United for £90m if they want to sign Harry Maguire. The 26-year-old centre-back has been a target for United and they have been allegedly pursuing the defender.
But the hierarchy at Old Trafford believes that the Foxes valuation of Maguire is overrated. Nevertheless, United is still interested enough in signing him, even though they will have to pay £90m.
Manchester United needs to pay the money to get Harry Maguire, because if we want to buy British players, he’s one of the best in his position. There’s not too many “real” quality centre-backs that United can obtain from the Premier League. Manchester United can’t afford to be conservative in their approach to sign quality players.
Ed Woodward and the club have been too slow to sign players so far and we need to quicken the pace in finding signings that will be impactful. Why have we only made one signing so far? The transfer window opened on May 16, so its almost been a month. We can’t afford to be too picky. Our preseason training and our tour to Australia and Asia is in early to mid July.
As I said before Ed Woodward, who was a former accountant and investor doesn’t know the ins and outs or inner workings of the transfer market. If you add to the fact that United wants to buy players that are British and young from about 18-25, it just makes it harder for us to buy players that we want. If we wait too long to obtain signings this could allow other teams in the league to poach players away from us that we’re interested in.
We should be proactive in finding and signing transfer targets quickly. I hope that we can get the 4 or 5 players that we need by training camp and when the tour kicks off. This is why we need a good and experienced Sporting Director to find the right signings that we need and buy them in time before August and for when the new season begins.
The Metro reports that Manchester United has been linked with another star this time, and its Leicester City player James Maddison. The 22-year-old midfielder is now one of the top targets for United. He had a fantastic season at the King Power stadium. He scored seven goals and seven assists. United seems to be in pole position to sign him in spite of the interest from many clubs.
But after United made contact with his representatives Maddison has second thoughts about joining United. Leicester values him at £60m. He helped the Foxes finish in ninth place last season.
Manchester United shouldn’t buy James Maddison because there are other midfielders out there that are better that we can sign. For example like Bruno Fernandes would be a fabulous player to sign. I am not sold on James Maddison yet. Let’s give him time to mature and see what kind of player he becomes in the next 3-4 years. We know that he was arguably the best player when he was in the championship.
He certainly has the talent to raise his game to another level. But a prestigious club should look for someone of a higher talent and pedigree. I don’t think he’s better than what we already have in central midfield. Does he really give us something different than what we already have? I don’t think so, because when you look at his first season stats its not really impressive. Seven goals and seven assists just isn’t good enough for me. I’m sure he probably does a few other things that may hold him in high regard by many people, but I have seen him play and I’m not that really in awe of him.
Someone like Youri Tielemans, Maddison’s team mate to me is a better caliber player. He’s more creative, and he’s skillful on the ball. He has more pace I believe than Maddison. I never was that excited in the talent of James Maddison. Tielemans is considered to be one of the best prospects in world football. He has more experience playing with top clubs at the highest level in Europe compared to Maddison. He started his career with Anderlecht in his native Belgium and he made 185 appearances and scored 35 goals across four years.
He won the league title twice and in 2017 was chosen as the Belgian ProfessionalFootballer of the Year. He is the youngest Belgian to play in the UEFA Champions League, making his debut in the competition at the age of 16 years and 148 days.
Tielemans represented Belgium at several youth levels and gained his first cap for thefull side in November 2016, aged 19. He was part of their squad that came third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He’s on loan from Monaco another well-known club in Europe. Tielemans has Champions League experience with both Anderlecht and Monaco at a young age.
James Maddison played for Coventry City and Norwich City and went to Aberdeen on loan before he went to Leicester City. There is nothing in his bio or profile that stands out as impressive or special. If I were United I would continue to pursue Tielemans if reports are true that they are interested in him. At age 22, the sky’s the limit for this young Belgian star.
Daniel James I believe will be an excellent signing for United. His full name is Daniel Owen James and the 21-year-old winger has an abundance of pace. The pacy winger was born in Beverley, England. He is known for his trickery and he can play on either the left or right wing. He’s 5’7″ and was part of Hull City’s academy from 2006-2014 and was part of Swansea City’s academy from 2014-2016. The Welshman made the step up from the Under-23’s to Swansea City’s first team in 2016.
He scored on his debut against Notts County in February 2018 and scored 5 more times in 38 appearances. James made his senior international debut for Wales last November before he netted his first goal in March in a win over Slovakia. He played in 33 games and scored 4 times in 28 starts. James has played on all the national teams from the Wales U-17’s to the senior team.
