United needs to obtain a striker that can score goals on a regular basis and can do many other things as well. Romelu Lukaku should be sold because he doesn’t always show effort in his game. A few things that he lacks is enthusiasm on the field, he doesn’t make runs into the box on a regular basis and he doesn’t score goals consistently. The big Belgian has 90 appearances and a total 42 goals. Many times he would go without scoring for several matches for United.
Lukaku even had fairly long goal droughts with his former clubs like Everton, West Brom and Chelsea. If we don’t get a quality striker that can score with consistency then it makes it more difficult for us to win more matches in all competitions. The club should keep Rashford, Lingard and Martial because they are future and they can greatly benefit the club. Sanchez is another story, because according to newspaper reports United has allowed Solskjaer the option of possibly selling him this summer.
He has been injured often for long periods ever since he came here in January 2018. Things haven’t worked out for the Chilean striker ever since he arrived here and I’m not sure its going to get better for him. At least the other strikers show some energy many or most of the times when they are near or in the box.
So I think the solution to this problem is to bring in Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan or Paulo Dybala from Juventus. Both Argentinian strikers are surplus to requirements at their clubs. They could also leave for different reasons. For Icardi, he and management at the club have unfriendly relations currently because of some disagreement in the past between them. As for Dybala he isn’t getting much playing time there now especially with the arrival of Ronaldo and the emergence of Moise Kean.
If we get one of these strikers we should have a more dangerous line-up upfront with the group of strikers that we have.
What striker would you like to see come to United?
We have lost 3 out of our last 4 games. The Red Devils were outplayed and outclassed in these games. Losing to Arsenal and then to Wolves twice within a few weeks of each other is really disappointing. Now that Ole officially is our new manager he needs to find a way to not only motivate these players, but he may need to look at his tactics as well.
Obviously some of these players should leave the club because of not only their advancing ages, but also they don’t seem to have much pride playing for arguably the biggest club in the world. So they are lacking that motivation and pride. I don’t like whenever a team equalizes or we fall behind in games we seem to lack that tenacity or fighting spirit to get a positive result from the match. These players that aren’t willing to give a 100% to the team needs to leave the club.
Ole has for the most part done a great job, but now the problems in the team are exposed for everyone to see. He has to turn the ship around quickly because we’ll lose the chance to qualify for the Champions League. In the summer many players will leave. Herrera, Valencia, Mata, Darmian, Rojo and few young players would need to be sold. I believe if we get 5 or 6 new players Ole can help to change the fortunes of Manchester United.
Two world class center-backs, a creative and defensive midfielder, striker and a very good winger should help the team immensely.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed the new manager of Manchester United. Espn reports that the Norwegian has agreed to a three year contract. This is great news for United fans, because as caretaker manager he has done a remarkable job in turning around the club’s fortunes. A few months ago when there was talk about Mauricio Pochettino as a candidate for the position I was enthusiastic about the Argentine coach obtaining the job also.
However I believe Ole was the best suited for the job anyway because he was a fantastic servant and player for United. He will always be remembered for scoring the winning goal in the 1999 European Cup final at the Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain. Also don’t forget a host of many winning goals that he scored in the league and other cup competitions.
The Ex-Norwegian striker is a legend at Old Trafford, and has also contributed as a reserves coach at United. Ole achieved success early in his coaching career when he won the Lancashire Senior Cup in 2007-08 season by defeating the Liverpool reserves 2-1. He also captured the Manchester Senior Cup trophy on May 10, 2010 against Bolton Wanderers winning 1-0 at the Reebok stadium.
Solskjaer has won the Premier League Reserve and the Premier Reserve League North titles in 2009-10 season. In his native Norway he won the Tippeligaen league in 2011 and 2012, which is the top league in the country. Ole also won the Norwegian football Cup in 2013. I love the fact that he knows the club inside out and knows what is required of him to be successful at such a huge club.
For me Ole was the best man for the job. On the flip side Mauricio Pochettino for all of his time that he has coached in England’s and Spain’s top leagues he hasn’t won anything. So even though people in the media and everyone saying that he’s a brilliant coach and would be a better long term choice, Solskjaer was always going to get the edge because he won titles and he achieved that a young age. I hope that he’ll be at the club for many many years to come.
