Apparently Manchester United has a real interest in signing Dutch midfielder Donny Van de Beek. But it seems that Ajax isn’t interested in reducing their asking price for the Dutchman.
In the past United were linked Van de Beek, but nothing ever materialized, but now there seems to be some truth behind United’s interest in the midfielder. Recently former United legend Edwin van der Sar spoke to a Dutch tv station and said that United were interested in signing the man from Ajax.
Whenever a former great player like Van der Sar could make a revelation like that I would believe that its credible. Not only that, but the Dutch newspaper The Telegraaf which is a reputable newspaper in the Netherlands saying the same thing too. I don’t think that you can just dismiss it as just another rumour without any merit in it.
According to reports from Team Talk, United has been keeping a close eye on the Dutchman’s situation at Ajax. With Real Madrid experiencing financial issues, Manchester United could steal the midfielder away from the Spanish club. Van de Beek would cost €55 million (£49m) to get this deal done.
I would be pleased if United were to get this deal done. He is a player that can hold on to and distribute the ball well with his accurate passing. He’s more offensive-minded and he can get you some goals. He loves to make runs into the box and he is 23. He is a six-footer and has good pace. I like the fact that he likes to keep the ball at his feet and hold on to it well.
I am excited for a signing like this if this what United wants to do. I would always welcome talented players such as Van de Beek in our squad. Check back here first to see any new developments on this story.
