ESPN.com reports that Manchester United met with representatives of Thomas Lemar in the past week. The French midfielder wants to leave Atletico Madrid because their style of play doesn’t suit his qualities and he hasn’t been playing much either. Lemar is 24, and he was one of the shortlist of targets after he had an excellent 2016-17 season with Monaco.
The French international has more than three years left on his contract, so United will have to pay a large sum of money to secure his services. His left foot and creativity are attributes that United like. Man United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodwood and his team will be in contact with a lot of agents and players soon.
I am happy to see that Ed Woodward is taking the initiative to meet with representatives of other clubs this early in the process. Especially now that the coronavirus issue provides United and other clubs with the opportunity to pursue players. Thomas Lemar would be a welcome addition to the squad.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that he needed three players this summer in order to be title contenders this next season. Although Lemar is a very good player, he wasn’t on my wishlist of players. The players that I would like to see United bring into the squad are: Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), and Timo Werner (RB Leipzig).
I would love to see Wilfred Ndidi at Old Trafford too. But he is a key player for Leicester just like James Maddison and I think that it may be quite tough to sign him from the Foxes. Maddison has been one of our targets for a while now, but Leicester never budged in selling him to any team. So I think that Ndidi and Maddison wouldn’t be players that I would see ending up at Old Trafford.
Another player that I would like to see at United is Ruben Neves, who I think is a real talent, but I believe that he’ll stay with Wolves. Wolves has done a great job of holding on to their big stars and they continue to add to their team. He’s so important to that team that if Wolves were to sell him it may not be that easy to replace him at an affordable price. He is one of the players that makes Leicester tick in midfield. He’s influential in his overall play.
Who do you think are the players Ole should sign for next season over the summer? Let me know in the comments section.
