The Express reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in signing Dutch player Donny van de Beek from Ajax. But many Manchester United supporters say that the club should pursue Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish instead. The English midfielder has been linked to United for months, and it seems like Ole likes him too.
United have pursued Van de Beek since they missed out on Erling Haaland, who joined Borussia Dortmund. Solskjaer wants to sign another creative midfielder to his team because of the poor form of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata. Ajax according to some reports would allow the Dutchman to leave for a fee in the region of £50 million because the Dutch side has been ousted from the competition.
These were the comments of some fans about what players they would like to see come to the club. “With all due respect, WHY would we sign Donny Van De Beek?” one fan tweeted.
“Even if we have to wait until the summer, please go for Grealish.
“Or midfielders of the profile we actually need; a high volume passer and a runner.”
And another supporter wrote: “Exactly and needs to get the right players in. Man Utd fans can be so spoiled.
“They want a quick fix to compete again but won’t be patient. Would take Van De Beek. Would love Grealish.”
Manchester United needs a virtual overhaul from top to bottom in the club. The hierarchy from the owners, the CEO and everyone else on the club’s board needs to be changed. May be not all of them but there needs to be a shake-up at the top levels of the club.
I believe we need to take a second look at our scouting network and our youth development system. United hasn’t produced the same calibre of young players that came through the academy during the Fergie years.
We have had a few like Greenwood, Tuanzebe, and Scott McTominay. We also need a Director of Football which we haven’t hired as yet. So even though we bring in new players, Would they be the right players for the club? So we must fix the other issues that’s plaguing the club and it’s not just about firing Ole or getting in new players. Because United won’t go in the right direction as a football club without fixing the issues at the top first.
