Manchester United eased to a 4-1 win at Old Trafford on Thursday in their Premier League encounter with Newcastle. United came back from a goal down to cap of a wonderful display of football. Two goals from Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford ensured the victory.
Manchester United needed an emphatic response after the 2-0 loss to Watford last weekend. Scott McTominay picked up a yellow card after 24 seconds. But things didn’t go to plan when Matthew Longstaff put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute. The midfielder placed his shot past David De Gea after good link-up play Joelinton that sent the Magpies fans into delirium.
However, it was all United after that as the Reds played some free-flowing football that overcame the visitors. Anthony Martial got the equalizer, and Mason Greenwood put United ahead with a thunderous strike. Then it was Marcus Rashford’s turn to head in a third, and after the break Martial took advantage of a sloppy backpass by Sean Longstaff for a fourth goal.
Up next for United is a clash against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday. It is going to be a real test for us there because Burnley doesn’t lose many points or matches at home. Their two strikers Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes could cause us problems. They are big and physical and both has good pace as well.
If we can keep both players quiet, then I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to win there. They are usually have a well-organized and compact defense that grants teams few favours. I believe that we can win there, but United has been so inconsistent this season and last term that I can’t be 100% sure that we will win. I wouldn’t be surprised if they won, especially if we have another sub-par performance.
