What happened to Fred?

Where is Fred? Image: metro.co.uk

Fred hasn’t played for Manchester United since pre-season, and you have to ask boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer where is he? The last time that the Brazilian midfielder featured for United was on July 30, in a club friendly against Norwegian side Kristiansund that United won 1-0. Has he been frozen out of the squad? Is he injured? He hasn’t featured for United since the start of the season either.

In the pre-season, he played against Inter Milan in Singapore, and Spurs in July. but since those three matches he has gone missing in action. Our midfield could use a different player that is energetic, skillful and has some good one on one skills and can keep possession of the ball. We also need a good passer of the ball. Fred fits those criteria and he should replace Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard, both of whom hasn’t been in good form recently. Fred can also score some goals if he is given a chance to start games on a regular basis.

Lingard and Pereira doesn’t seem to be engaged in the games that they have started in so far this season. They lack the drive and energy and in Pereira’s case the experience to play at this level. He needs time to mature and looks lost out on the field at times. He’s not keeping the ball well and he looks out of sync. With Lingard I think he hasn’t found his form yet and seems to be going through the motions when he’s playing. Its as if he has little interest in what’s happening on the field.

Its time for Fred to come back into the team. I haven’t seen anything about him being injured or any updates on his injury if he has one. So the only thing I can think of is that he’s not even being considered to play at all. I hope that Solskjaer returns him to the line-up soon.
