According to Sky Sports, Inter Milan would like to offer Romelu Lukaku £41m for 5 years, including bonuses. But only if they can convince Manchester United to sell. Inter wants to pay £63m, including add-ons, but the deal is structured at over two or three years.
But United has always reiterated that they want Inter to pay more than £79 upfront in order to get the deal done quickly. Most reports state that United wants £80m for the Belgian player. Inter are not interest in matching that price because obviously they can’t afford to pay that fee immediately. They are working toward some kind of compromise so that they could get the deal done.
The negotiations between both clubs are still ongoing, but there are far apart in their discussions as to what would be a suitable agreement that would make both sides happy. Lukaku’s contract expires in 2022 and United is adamant that the Italian side pays up fast. Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Belgian striker and so is Lukaku an admirer of Conte. Lukaku has stated that he thinks that Conte is a great coach and would love to play for Inter.
Manchester United should find another team that is willing to pay £80m for their striker, because these talks aren’t progressing at all. For several weeks both clubs has been in discussions over this potential deal, but nothing has materialized. United though would be hard pressed to find any other club that’s willing to pay such an expensive price for Lukaku. Very few teams wouldn’t be able to afford his wages or even pay his huge salary over a number of years.
Inter and United doesn’t want to budge so that means that after many weeks of negotiations I think that both sides should just walk away from the bargaining table. It looks like United will be stuck with the big Belgian this season.
