Football-Talk claims that Manchester United has made a better offer that’s worth £60m plus £20m in add-ons for Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire.
Leicester rejected Manchester United’s recent offer of £70m for Maguire. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still trying to solve that centre-back problem that United has had for some time now. If United can sign the Englishman he would be a big upgrade on what we already have in central defense.
The fact that United is still chasing this player although as I said before in prior posts that I don’t think he’s worth the price tag that the Foxes has placed on him. I have seen a report from The Sun in England that Leicester actually wants £85m for the England international. Other reports by media outlets said that Leicester wants either £70m or £75m for him.
Whatever the real transfer fee, Manchester United will have to pay a huge sum of money for the defender. I won’t be surprised that if Maguire’s agent is part of the problem in increasing the price tag for his client, so he can benefit financially as well. Because the agent always has some say in what club his client should go to or what kind of deal his client should take. The more money the agent can get for the player its more money for the agent. We all know that its not just the club that is behind the increase in the transfer fee.
Let’s hope that Leicester doesn’t keep raising the fee for their player, because it can not only discourage United from signing the player, but it can also discourage the few other suitors like Manchester City from pursuing Maguire at all.
