The Metro claims that Manchester United is interested in selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter, but only if Milan Skriniar is included as part of the deal, according to reports in the Italian media.
Inter’s new manager Antonio Conte really wants to sign Lukaku because in the past he missed out on the Belgian striker when Conte was at Chelsea. Lukaku wants to leave United and would love to join Conte at Inter. Corriere dello Sport reports that both United and Inter has had discussions to engineer a deal for Lukaku. The Italian club has offered both Ivan Perisic and Mauro Icardi.
But United rejected that deal for both players and told Inter that they want Skriniar in exchange. However Inter doesn’t want the centre-back to leave, because he just recently signed a new contract.
Manchester United needs to find another team and player that they can likely get a deal done with. Its clear that United isn’t going to get this deal done. There is a conflict between both teams on what they want and none of the clubs are willing to budge. I think that Inter offering both Ivan Perisic and Mauro Icardi sounds like a good idea to me. But United obviously isn’t interested at all.
The Slovakian centre-back is of more importance to United because its a need that has to be filled immediately. Our defence is the most pressing problem, so I understand why United rejected Perisic and Icardi. I know that the process to find the players that are the right fit for the team is paramount. We know that United has to be a patient getting deals done.
But, unfortunately for us time is running out to buy the 4 or 5 players that we need. Ed Woodward is really struggling to get these deals done. I am surprised that to this day we still don’t have a Director of Football. Woodward should be able to just focus on his duties as the Chief Executive Officer. Because he isn’t good at being the Sporting Director and taking on the role of CEO of the club.
If by July 1st, we haven’t brought at least 2 more players by then, then it will be more difficult to buy players in the future. We will miss out on players that have either re-signed with their clubs, or players who have signed with new clubs. Right now United is behind the eight ball and we can’t seem to get these deals done quickly. Its time that we find clubs that we can get deals done easier with.
