The Metro reports that Manchester United wants to complete a quick £62 million deal for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of Man City. They are hoping to get the deal done by the end of next week according to reports in Portugal.
A Bola says that United is leading the race to sign the Sporting Lisbon star. City already made a €55 million (£48.7m) offer for him. They are willing to include players as part of the deal. The player also helped Sporting win the Portuguese Cup (Taca de Portugal). He scored 29 goals and registered 17 assists in 48 appearances.
This is would be a great signing for us if its true. I would love to see a player like him come to United. For a midfielder to score 29 goals in 48 appearances and to have 17 assists is amazing. We need a player like that who is creative especially in the final third of the field. If we can sign him he can help with our attacking issues. We need to have players that not only wants the ball, but they should contribute in different ways. Bruno Fernandes obviously does that.
An attacking midfielder scoring 29 goals in this day and time is incredible. Many strikers in world football never get close to 30 goals. I remember in Paul Scholes heyday he would get around 20 goals a season. This is the type of quality player that Manchester United needs at the club. I hope we can sign him. Fernandes would be a real serious threat to opposing defences.
