The Express states that there are four new players that is at the top of Ole’s list. The United manger is pursuing a right-back, a right-winger and two midfielders according to The Sun. The United boss claims that they have been many inquiries from the agents of players who would love to come to the club.
“You’d be surprised how many players’ agents have been touting their players,” Solskjaer said.
“Telling us that their players would love to be a part of Man United in the future.
“That’s the lure of Man United because they know the potential and size of the club, that we will in the end get back to the good days.
“Yes, we’re having a tough time at the moment. We’ve had a few seasons that we’ve not got up to the standards we expect but it’s up to me and the club to change it as quick as possible.
“If it’s a season without the Champions League, who knows but players still want to come to Man United and you probably wouldn’t be surprised but you would be surprised by the names that you get asked.”
The players that Ole has targeted is Bruno Fernandes, a 24-year-old Sporting and Portugal midfielder. The other three are midfielder Idrissa Gueye (29), West Ham’s Declan Rice (20) and Youri Tielemans (22).
These players can certainly improve the squad, but let’s see if they’re will be the right fit for the club if Ole does get them. I can’t say that they will improve United to the point where we will be contenders for silverware this season. But I still believe that we need at least a few star players who can help to inspire and raise the level of our play in games when its needed. They can certainly help us get positive results in matches when we are playing poorly.
I just hope that Ole doesn’t pursue players that will not just improve the squad just for the sake of it, but they would elevate the club to a much higher level so that we can compete with Liverpool and Manchester City. The other teams in Europe like Barcelona and Real Madrid will also make upgrades to their squads this summer despite the disappointing ends to their Champions League campaigns.
So Manchester United should plan to compete with these teams that we would have to meet in the future. Those teams are the gold standard in football now and domestically dealing with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool we must get back to that level as soon as possible.
