In a game where United took the early lead through Juan Mata, David De Gea cost us the game with a goalkeeping error. We looked to be comfortable and mostly in control of the game even after Mata’s goal. But once Marcos Alonso scored we couldn’t get a second goal to win the match.

United had an excellent start to the game with good passing, movement and tempo. In the 11th minute Juan Mata scored the opener. Romelu Lukaku played in Luke Shaw, who then laid the ball back for Mata in the box to score against keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Red Devils were looking confident. But we were not able to hold on to our lead before half-time.

Antonio Rudiger’s right-footed shot from outside the box forced De Gea to parry the ball away. But then Marcos Alonso pounced in the box to score with the rebound. Now Chelsea’s confidence grew and were looking like the side with the upperhand in the match. In the second period, Marcus Rashford’s right-footed shot was saved from outside the box by Kepa. Marcos Rojo had to replace Eric Bailly because of injury in the 71st minute.

Willian had an attempt from a direct free-kick that went over the bar a minute after that. In injury time Ruben Loftus-Cheek missed an attempt from outside the box after an assist by Pedro. Pedro missed with a header after a cross by Eden Hazard with two minutes to go in injury time. Gonzalo Higuain in the last minute of extra-time had a right-footed effort in the six-yard box that was saved by De Gea.

So we missed out on 3 points that could have really set us up well for the last two matches. Even though its going to be difficult for us to get 4th spot, we must fight to the end and win our last two games. Arsenal lost their last 3 games in shocking fashion. Arsenal lost 3-2 at Crystal Palace, 3-1 at Wolves and 3-0 at Leicester City. They are only 1 place and 1 point above us in 5th place.

In their last two games they are at home against Brighton Hove & Albion, and they have away game at Burnley a team despite their struggles this season isn’t that easy to beat at home. They have looked a little better in recent weeks. Burnley also has a reputation of beating big clubs or drawing with them since last season. So I won’t put it beyond them to beat Arsenal, because Arsenal’s form has been terrible this season.

Then regarding Chelsea they have had a relatively poor season by their standards. They are in 4th place and just 3 points above us. They play at home against Watford and then go away to Leicester City. Watford is in 10th place, but they have had a pretty good season and they are in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May. Watford these days are playing with more confidence and they aren’t any pushovers.

But the game where Chelsea can really stumble is the last game of the season against Leicester City whose home form in particular has improved considerably. They are in hot form and in their last 7 games they have won 5 and Chelsea could slip up there. So if United win their remaining games that gives us 7 points from our last three games.

What did you think of the game? Do you think that our chance of a 4th place finished is over? Please comment below. Your opinions are greatly appreciated!!!!
