Manchester United v Manchester City preview

Luke Shaw is available again after his suspension. Phil Jones picked up an injury at Everton and may miss Wednesday’s match. Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera and Eric Bailly are still unavailable. But Alexis Sanchez is back in the squad after a knee problem. As for Manchester City they will be without Kevin De Bruyne who sustained an injury at the City of Manchester stadium last Saturday in City’s 1-0 win over Spurs.

Pep Guardiola was asked about the Belgian midfielder, Pep said: “I don’t know. It’s a muscular problem we will see in next days how he will do but tomorrow, no.” The visitor’s only other injury concern is goalie Claudio Bravo, who is their only long-term absentee. The referee for the game is Andre Mariner. The game is at (20:00 BST) or 3 pm EST in the US.

This is a match that United must win because, if we lose then we risk losing out on that 4th place finish. Our players need to understand that they must have pride and a great love for Manchester United every time they put on that shirt. When you’re playing for a huge club that has the largest support around the world you need to make the fans proud of you. Then you must live up to the very high standards that the club has. If you can’t deal with those standards then go to the less prestigious or smaller clubs. This is a game where we must show who we are. If we’re not pumped up for this match, then I don’t see how we would be enthusiastic about winning the remaining games.

From the very start of the game, once that whistle from the referee sounds every United player must be fully committed to fight to win the game. We can’t afford another loss today. We have nothing else to fight for than obtaining that 4th place finish. Let’s hope that our players seize the moment and go for the win.
