After United’s 3-0 loss to Barcelona, during a post-match press conference Ole thought that Barcelona was a great example of what United should follow in the future.

“If we want to get back to Manchester United’s true level, true traditions, we have to challenge Barcelona,” said Solskjaer.

“They were a couple of levels above over the two games.”Speaking to BT Sport, Solskjaer added: “Lionel Messi is top quality and he was the difference, of course. At 2-0 straight after, it was game over. Messi showed his quality.”

United has five Premier league games left and we have to put this Champions League campaign behind us. We have some important games coming up against Manchester City and Chelsea soon. We have to win all our games to give ourselves a chance of obtaining that 4th place. We’re 6th on the table with 2 points behind 4th placed Arsenal.

Ole also said that he knows “there is work to be done.”

“We have said all along that this isn’t going to change tonight. The next few years will be massive for us to get to the level of Barcelona,” Solskjaer said.

“We have got good players and, at the moment, we really have done well to get to the quarters and to get in the challenge for the top four.

“We have got a rebuilding job but that starts with the coaches and the players and one or two additions to the squad will happen in the summer.”

I believe that if United can get the quality players that we need then we’ll be just fine. The team needs a striker, two center-backs, a winger, a creative midfielder especially one that can score goals. A defensive midfielder to replace Nemanja Matic would be beneficial to the squad too.

After such a fantastic ride under Ole, reality has finally struck us and we need to face up to that and make the necessary changes so that we can improve.

What are the players that you will like to see leave Old Trafford?
