Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave his latest updates on the injury situation for game.
“We don’t have full-backs this week,” he explained in our exclusive interview. “Not too many as we’ve lost Luke and Ashley through suspension. Antonio [Valencia] is still not fit. Maybe Matteo [Darmian] will be available for the bench and [Marcos] Rojo has been training for a while.
”He’s available and we’ve got Jonah [Phil Jones], who could also play there. Rojo needed to get out on the big pitch [in the Under-23s, against West Brom last Friday] so he could have that game but we’ve had a couple of practice matches so let’s see what we decide.“
Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are both doubtful. There was some hope that Alexis Sanchez could feature against West Ham after the Chilean striker trained this week. But unfortunately it has come a little bit too soon for him.
“We’re getting better and better but, of course, Nemanja fell ill,” added Ole. “I’m not sure he’s going to be ready. Alexis is getting close but I’m not sure he’ll be ready yet.”
Samir Nasri may be absent with a calf injury, but Jack Wilshire is unlikely to feature even though he has made some progress in his training. Hammer striker Andy Carroll is out through injury and had an operation. Andriy Yarmolenko, Carlos Sanchez, and Winston Reid are unavailable. The game is on Saturday at 12:30pm or 17:30 (BST) time.
